Lately, I have been reading a lot of dystopian type books, or mystery thrillers, and some paranormal ones. I finally gave in and started reading One Day by David Nicholls.
At first, I was thinking, “Oh, it started on a drunken sex night.” But not, really. As the story progresses, I found myself connecting to the main character, Emma Morley. Someone who is quite confused as to what she wants to do with her life. Someone who’s got so many sad and funny anecdotes, writes them in her notebooks, or shares them with her best friend, Dexter Mayhew.
Well, I do not have a Dexter. But if I did, maybe my life would be different. I do have lots of friends that I’ve known for more than 10-15 years. Some are married, some are still single, and a few came out!
Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book:
Another thought popped up while I was reading this. My first love recently invited me to his wedding, and I was thinking, there goes my chance! Just kidding! Or maybe I’m not.
I’d give this book a 5/5 but, something happened in the book that made me think otherwise, so it’s a 4/5 for me.
