One of the perks of reading books is when you discover new bands to listen to. Sometimes it gives you a soundtrack in your head, the way the book Perks of Being A Wallflower gave me The Smiths. The last book that I’ve read is The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski. In that book, the female character, Camryn, played a song on her phone called “Barton Hallow” by The Civil Wars. I became curious about it, like I always do, so I looked it up on Youtube and have grown to like the song, too.
After browsing and listening to their songs online, I’ve come to like this particular song, Falling. It is about falling out of love. Joy, the female lead, has this voice that sort of pierced through my heart, and the sound of John playing the guitar is really haunting.
